Free professional E-Learning
Free, accredited e-learning provides basic through to advanced level education on all aspects of the prevention, diagnosis and management of acute rheumatic fever and rheumatic heart disease.
RHDAustralia has developed a suite of free online clinical education modules to improve the prevention, diagnosis and management of acute rheumatic fever (ARF) and rheumatic heart disease (RHD). The modules provide basic to advanced education for all health professionals with topics ranging from an introduction to acute rheumatic fever through to surgical management of rheumatic heart disease.
The modules are endorsed by the Australian College of Nursing (ACN), Australian College of Midwives (ACM) and accredited by the Australian College of Rural and Remote Medicine (ACRRM), National Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health Worker Association (NATSIHWA) and Royal Australian College of General Practice (RACGP). On completion of the modules you will receive a certificate for evidence of continuous professional development (CPD) or continuous medical education (CME). Points or education hours are assigned to individual packages or modules. You will be advised of the approximate time commitment before starting each module.
To complete the modules you will need to register through our e-learning platform. This is a simple registration process and you can start the modules as soon as you have created your account. The e-learning platform records your progress, provides you with certificates of completion and allows you to work through the modules at your own pace. A single log-in will give you access to all RHDAustralia’s education modules.
The content of the modules is consistent with the Australian guidelines for the prevention, diagnosis and management of ARF and RHD (2nd edition) and has been developed with leading Australian experts in ARF and RHD.
The Western Australia Rheumatic Heart Disease Orientation film is also available through the e-learning platform. The film provides consistent orientation for any staff member who may provide a service to a patient diagnosed with acute rheumatic fever (ARF) and/or rheumatic heart disease (RHD) and to inform staff of their legal obligations in regard to the Western Australia RHD Register.
